Inspector ‘unconcerned’ at gas pipeline at site

AN inspector with the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) said yesterday that he was unconcerned by a gas pipeline running through the site of a proposed hazardous waste incinerator plant at Ringaskiddy, Co Cork.

Patrick Conneely was appearing at the fourteenth and final day of the Bord Pleanála oral hearing into the application by Indaver Ireland to build an incinerator at Ringaskiddy.

When asked was he concerned about a gas pipeline, he replied: "Because it is underground it did not concern us." Derry Chambers of Cork Environmental Alliance raised the issue of dioxins posing a health risk.
