TRYING gangland members in a court without a jury would end in disaster, Justice Minister Michael McDowell warned yesterday.

Ruling out such a move as a way of tackling the problem, the minister insisted gardaí were coping adequately with gangland crime.

Mr McDowell said the knee-jerk reactions of many in recent days were wholly incorrect.
