TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern believes 2006 will be a “make-or-break year” for the power-sharing institutions in the North.

Speaking following his hour-long meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair at Downing Street yesterday, Mr Ahern conceded there were difficult issues to resolve before the institutions could be restored.

But he stressed: "What we want to do is get as much momentum after the Christmas break into the peace process as we can. We have to now come to conclusions and make progress on this and turn momentum into action early in 2006."
