CHURCH attendances have fallen dramatically, the Irish Examiner/Lansdowne poll reveals.

In a country where the overwhelming majority of people still describe themselves as Catholic, only 44% of adults now attend religious services at least once a week.

That represents a further decline from the 48% figure recorded in 2004.
