Majority of schools tested in past five years

More than 3,400 were tested during a national survey between 1998 and 2000. Most of the remaining untested schools are being surveyed and the results will be known during the summer.

However, around 35 schools around the country have either still not requested the testing equipment or have not returned those sent to them to measure radon levels. The work is being done by the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII) on behalf of the Department of Education.
