54% against use of Shannon by US

A MAJORITY of Irish people are strongly against the use of Shannon Airport

The poll found some 54% of voters disapproved of the Government allowing military planes carrying US troops and their weapons to pass through Shannon en route to the Gulf.

Just 36% of voters said they approved of the policy while 10% said they had no opinion.
