MAJOR rail improvements between Waterford and other busy hubs are very much on track, with the first tranche coming on stream from today.

A non-stop Waterford to Dublin service is the main demand of many consumers but, in the meantime, a new early-morning inter-city train to Heuston - with fewer stops - starts in late March.

Timetable changes on the Limerick Junction line also come into effect from today, improving the service for Tipperary customers linking in with Dublin, Cork and other key destinations.
