McAleese’s luxury townhouse on market for €900,000

PRESIDENT Mary McAleese is selling her luxury five-bedroom townhouse for almost €900,000.

But she doesn’t have to worry about a place to stay as she has another five years left in her official residence - the palatial pile of Áras an Uachtaráin in Dublin’s Phoenix Park.

Ms McAleese ran into controversy in recent years over another property, when conservationists kicked up a fuss over the retirement home she and her husband Martin planned in a scenic and secluded part of north Roscommon, her father’s native county.
