A GREAT deal of work needs to be done to resolve serious pollution in Lough Lein, Kerry County Manager Martin Nolan said yesterday.

Action ‘vital’ to tackle lake pollution

Action is required on agriculture; the tourism sector; local authorities and domestic septic tanks, all of which contribute to the 30 tonnes of phosphorous reaching the lake each year.

Mr Nolan said phosphorous levels were still too high; there was still a risk of serious algal bloom.
