Civil servant exodus set to begin

FIFTY civil servants from the Department of Agriculture are to move to Portlaoise over the next few weeks, the first to leave Dublin under the Government’s decentralisation plan.

Agriculture Minister Joe Walsh said the 50 volunteered to move.

Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy said the department is “blazing a trail which I look forward to others following”.
