Good childcare should not be the preserve of the wealthy

IF there’s one phrase that gets my back up, it’s people talking about “dumping the kids at the creche.” To me, it just encapsulates what a lot of people choose to think about a lot of working mums.

We’re greedy, selfish and we shouldn’t have had children unless we’re prepared to look after them.

Now, I’m not saying that working mothers are paragons of virtue and there must be as many bad working mothers as there are bad stay-at-home mothers but believe me, we don’t get an easy ride.
