LABOUR may increase capital gains tax if the party successfully enters Government with Fine Gael, leader Pat Rabbitte indicated yesterday.

But despite having no hesitancy in repeatedly outlining Labour’s childcare policies for Government, he continued to evade any detailed discussion of his party’s stance on tax until closer to an election.

Speaking during his first extensive TV interview of the new Dáil term, Mr Rabbitte said he was not prepared to rule out a hike in capital gains tax.
