Redmond fails in bid to halt trial on charges of corruption
The 78-year-old former official claimed he could not be tried before âan impartial and unbiased juryâ because of the media coverage of his affairs.
Mr Redmond was given 21 days to appeal yesterdayâs High Court decision. Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns said in his reserved judgement that, while there had been adverse publicity in the case, he was not satisfied that it would lead to a real risk of an unavoidably unfair trial.
