THE GAA is giving young people the wrong message about alcohol by opening 11 new bars at its headquarters in Croke Park, it was claimed yesterday.

Dublin City Council gave the stadium company the green light a month ago to build bars in the Hogan and Cusack Stands and the Canal End, and the deadline for appeals passed this week.

The go-ahead comes in the same week as a third U2 concert was announced for Croke Park in June and after GAA congress agreed to make it available to other sports while Lansdowne Road is being redeveloped.
