FORMER Fine Gael Taoiseach John Bruton yesterday bowed out of domestic politics amid warm tributes from all parties in the Dáil yesterday.

Speaking on Mr Bruton's final day in the Dáil before leaving to take up residence as the EU's Ambassador to Washington, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern paid tribute to the Meath TD's 35 year's service.

"He has been here for 35 years and he has served his country and his party extremely well," said Mr Ahern.
