Local groups urged to apply for a share of €24m funding

LOCAL groups in Waterford whose work focuses on the disadvantaged, young people and the elderly are being urged to apply for their share of a €24 million fund which is being made available by the Government from the dormant accounts fund.

Waterford Fianna Fáil TD Ollie Wilkinson said there are several groups in Waterford that help people escape drug abuse, poverty and social disadvantage.

“I would like to see groups - particularly Waterford city communities like Ballybeg, Larchville, part of Lisduggan, Roanmore, Mount Sion, Newport’s Square and Shortcourse which are designated by the Government as Rapid areas - applying for funding from the dormant accounts fund to help them develop local projects,” he said.
