Hospital closes 24 beds temporarily

TWENTY-FOUR beds are being closed on a temporary basis at Cork University Hospital amid a worsening health crisis in the Southern Health Board region.

According to one local politician the news represented “another kick in the teeth for the sick and elderly” in the SHB area.

It has already been announced that 31 beds will be closing for six weeks at the only surgical ward in the Mercy Hospital from the end of June until August, while, in Kerry, 30 beds will soon be closed at Tralee General Hospital.
