OVER-WORKED farmers are involved in more accidents than ever and the Government needs to invest more in farm relief services, agriculture bosses have warned.

High levels of ill health in the agricultural sector has been attributed to farmers working long hours seven days a week.

And such work pressure could also be a major contributory factor to the high level of accidents on Irish farms, according to Peter Byrne, chief executive of the Farm Relief Service Network.
