Gardaí tried to bring home stun guns

TWO gardaí who tried to bring home stun guns, CS gas and telescopic batons back from a stag weekend in Berlin were taking the items home as holiday mementos, investigators said last night.

They were "stupid" rather than criminal in their intent, say gardaí.

The discovery of the items sparked a security alert at Stansted Airport in London as the gardaí returned with four others, including a third garda and three civilians, from a stag party.
