DOCTORS are urging motorists to make the May bank holiday the safest ever on the roads.

“Let us make history by reducing, if not eliminating, the incidence of death and injury on the roads over the this bank holiday weekend,” Dr James Reilly, president of the Irish Medical Organisation declared.

Last year’s May bank holiday weekend was the worst ever weekend for road carnage when 17 people lost their lives.
