TRALEE will lose out in future development if is it not one of the new cities in the National Spatial Strategy, its mayor warned yesterday.

Tralee lobbying for ‘gateway’ status

A Land Use and Transportation Study (LUTS), the blueprint for the growth of Tralee over the next 20 years, was launched yesterday and includes plans to cater for an extra 10,400 residents and to build 6,200 houses.

However, Mayor of Tralee Johnny Wall said Tralee would have to be included among the country’s gateway towns, or new cities, if it were to progress in the future.
