Report claims 11,000 North children live amid domestic violence

AT least 11,000 children live amid domestic violence in Northern Ireland but the estimated numbers could be far higher, according to a new government report yesterday.

“This is likely to be only the tip of the iceberg given the nature of the problem,” it was claimed.

The scale of the misery experienced by youngsters emerged with the start of a new campaign to tackle the violence which each year claims the lives of six people who have been attacked by a current or former partner.
