Bailey fails to halt civil case taken by French family

ENGLISH journalist Ian Bailey yesterday failed in his High Court bid to halt a civil case against him in which it is claimed he wrongfully caused the death of French woman Sophie Toscan du Plantier by assaulting and battering her in County Cork eight years ago.

The civil proceedings have been brought by Ms du Plantier's parents and son.

The High Court struck out his legal application.
