LABOUR TD Tommy Broughan was last night chastised by his party leader for breaking party rank on the controversial bin tax issue.

Mr Broughan was summoned to Labour leader Pat Rabbitte’s office yesterday after he revealed that he had not paid his bin tax.

Labour’s official party line since the beginning of the current controversy has been that, although they oppose the local authority charge, members will nevertheless pay the charge as it is now enshrined in law.
