THE regulator of credit unions has emphatically rejected a claim that he installed a puppet board in a Cork city credit union to enforce his own agenda.

Brendan Logue, the Registrar of Friendly Societies and the credit union movement's financial watchdog, said to "fling around these kind of claims willy nilly" would "inflame" an already difficult situation.

The accusation was levelled at the registrar by Brian Gould, a member of the board of directors of Gurranabraher Credit Union (GCU) in Cork, at a fraught AGM on Monday night.
