Government faces revolt over college fees and pub smoking ban

THE Government is facing a massive revolt among its own backbenches over plans to re-introduce college fees and ban smoking in pubs.

Dozens of Fianna Fáil TDs are fearful that the controversial proposals will spark a backlash against the Government.

Education Minister Noel Dempsey plans to bring back college fees despite the opposition.
