Group lauds ‘extraordinary’ city

CHINESE businesses could soon be operating in Cork and the city is set to formally twin with Shanghai next year.

More Chinese students are expected to attend UCC and further cultural links are to be set up between the cities, which are expected to culminate with Chinese television broadcasting events from Cork in 2005 as it celebrates its status as European Capital of Culture.

These are just some of the plans which are being made in the wake of an important visit to the Chinese city last week by the lord mayor of Cork, representatives of the business community and education experts.
