Jail ‘scam’ officers face charge

TWO prison officers reprimanded following an internal investigation into an alleged CD and DVD piracy racket in one of the State’s jails have returned to work.

But the pair, along with a third officer who remains suspended, still face criminal charges as a Garda investigation into the alleged scam continues.

The three are suspected of copying CDs and DVDs using prison equipment. It is alleged the scam operated out of a room close to the education block inside Mountjoy Prison.
