Higgins’ return speech targets Tánaiste

“I HAVE come from Mountjoy Prison.” So began the Dáil return speech of Socialist Party TD and anti-bin charge champion Joe Higgins.

In an emotional but restrained return to the Dáil chamber, Mr Higgins quickly went on the attack.

"Working men and women, fathers, mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers have been carted off to jail within days of peaceful community protests. They had no recourse except to protest in this way," he said.
