Teacher claims union bullying her out of election

The Teachers Union of Ireland (TUI) has rejected Anne Conaghan’s claims that it is unfairly promoting a candidate endorsed by branches in Connacht, Munster and Ulster. Ms Conaghan, a home school community liaison co-ordinator at St Catherine’s Vocational School in Killybegs, Co Donegal, is seeking election to the one vocational sector council seat in the constituency.

The other candidate, Tommy Glynn who teaches at Coláiste Cholmcille in Indreabhán, Co Galway was selected as one of three candidates with union backing for the elections, which continue until next week.
