FIRST-TIME buyers who are in genuine need of their parents’ help to purchase a house will not be charged stamp duty.

Revenue reassures first-time buyers

The Revenue Commissioners last night moved to reassure first-time buyers fearful of having to pay the duty if their parents are included on their mortgages.

Under the existing legislation, only first-time buyers who fully fund mortgages themselves qualify for relief from stamp duty.
