Braking zone for approaches to 30 mph limits rejected

A SPEED safety zone that could help drivers cope with suddenly going from a 60 to a 30 mile per hour zone has been ruled out by a top Government committee.

The Reduce/Increase Safety Zone, designed by Corkman John Treacy, was submitted to the Department of Transport for consideration over a year ago.

Mr Treacy was proposing a 750m speed safety zone at the entrance and exits to 30 mile limits, with a special three dimensional sign that would alert drivers.
