Port of Waterford bids to attract more foreign shipping companies

THE Port of Waterford company is bidding to boost its international appeal and attract even more foreign cargo into the thriving hub.

A group of transport and logistics providers from Flanders in Belgium visited Waterford Container Terminal at Belview yesterday where they were briefed on the attractiveness of the port as a shipping hub connecting Ireland with mainland Europe.

The visit allowed Waterford to be marketed to key decision makers from shipping lines specialising in international container traffic, port bosses say.
