Anger over plan to cut political fund limits

LABOUR and Fine Gael are fighting moves by Environment Minister Martin Cullen to remove the limits covering corporate donations to political parties.

Both parties say this move would lead to big business funding politics without limitation.

But the minister has said he believes taxpayers should not be expected to fund the political system and that the corporate sector should be encouraged to do so. But he believes limits were required for individual donations.
