McDowell cautious on Labour deal

JUSTICE Minister Michael McDowell yesterday showed markedly less willingness than his party leader Mary Harney for coalition discussions with the Labour Party.

Mr McDowell, like Ms Harney at the PD conference last weekend, did not rule out a possible future coalition with Labour.

However, he said it would only happen if Labour adopted the position of Britain’s New Labour, a pre-condition that would make any such arrangement nigh impossible.
