MEMBERS of the national surveillance unit along with local gardaí had been watching the small patch of forest for weeks.

They had followed the comings and goings of suspected republican dissidents and were building up evidence that the remote area in a heavily wooded part of Co Waterford’s Comeragh Mountains was being used as a training camp.
