America an outstanding friend, says Cowen

FOREIGN Affairs Minister Brian Cowen has called on Irish anti-war campaigners to be more moderate in the way they voice their protests and to remain within the law.

He said it was ironic to hear people advocating the “most pacifist positions using the most violent language”.

Mr Cowen said there were people not favourably disposed to the US in this country and people, both in and outside the Dáil, but that anti-Americanism was not broadly representative of the majority of the Irish public.
