Student nurses end protest over immunisation charges

A SIT-IN protest by 60 student nurses at St James’s Hospital in Dublin ended yesterday when management agreed not to demand immediate payment for their immunisation jabs.

The hospital, however, is insisting that the students, some of whom have medical cards, are still responsible for the payment of €100 for the vaccinations.

The students had turned up for the immunisation against hepatitis B and TB but were refused the injections because they were not able to pay. They then staged a sit-in in the hospital’s administration section.
