Disability standards set to improve care

NEW mandatory standards for disability services will be rolled out early next year to ensure people do not suffer traumatic experiences of past generations.

Disability standards set to improve care

The new standards will apply to all services for children and adults with autism, intellectual, physical and/or sensory disability, funded by the Department of Health and Children and provided by both statutory and non-statutory agencies.

The standards will be applied at the end of a three-month pilot programme launched yesterday, involving 20 organisations and more than 1,500 service users, their families and health board staff.
