TRAFFIC congestion in Dublin is set to get even worse from next week when a major junction is closed for construction work on the controversial Luas light-rail system.

The Automobile Association has predicted motorists will face serious disruption for several weeks with the closure of the road between St Stephen’s Green and Cuffe Street.

The thoroughfare, which is a vital artery in the city’s road network, already experiences traffic jams regularly, especially at peak drive-time hours. AA spokesperson, Conor Faughnan said the closure of the junction “has the potential to create enormous disruption.”
