Ferris denies being member of IRA council

KERRY NORTH Sinn Féin TD Martin Ferris yesterday repeated his denial that he had been a member of the IRA Army Council.

Anne McCabe, widow of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe, who was shot dead during a botched post office robbery in Adare in 1996, claimed the operation had been approved by the IRA Army Council.

On Radio Kerry, she clashed with Mr Ferris’s daughter, Kerry mayor Toiréasa Ferris, over Ms Ferris’s refusal to condemn the killing, on the Late Late Show, on Friday night.
