Garda charged with child pornography offences

A GARDA is to appear in court next month charged with child pornography offences.

The 35-year-old married man was questioned last December after obscene images of children were found on a computer in garda headquarters.

An investigation began after garda management discovered the child pornography on a computer in the administrative section. The Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation had been called in. Officers from the bureau’s sexual assault and domestic violence unit set up a surveillance operation around the computer.
