Ireland on US war support list, says Ahern

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern said yesterday Ireland appeared to be listed by the US among countries supporting war in Iraq.

The disclosure was seized upon by Opposition parties who said it revealed the Government's hypocrisy of claiming Ireland was neutral while supporting the war.

The US State Department has published a list of 35 countries in its "coalition of the willing", but says another 15 are assisting in the war effort but do not wish to be named.
