McGuinness appeals for information over probable abduction

SINN Féin’s Martin McGuinness yesterday appealed to anyone with information about the disappearance, and probable abduction, of an Armagh man to contact his family.

The family of Gareth O’Connor, from Armagh city, believe the 24-year-old was kidnapped by members of the IRA and had asked Sinn Féin to intervene.

His father Mark believes he was taken by a “renegade” unit of the IRA. Mr O’Connor said his son, a father of two, was involved in a fight with one of the men he accuses of orchestrating the kidnapping.
