Keep McCabe killers in jail, says poll

A LARGE majority of voters believe the killers of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe should not be released even in the event of a full cessation of paramilitary activities.

This is according to an Irish Examiner Prime Time poll.

In addition, with Justice Minister Michael McDowell yesterday refusing to rule out a possible financial settlement with Circuit Court Judge Brian Curtin, almost all voters believe he should be removed from the bench by the Oireachtas a move that would rule out compensation.
