Anti-theft system a trolley good idea

TROLLEYS with a mind of their own are the latest tool for supermarkets in their fight against theft and litter.

Superquinn will become the first retailer in Ireland to use a hi-tech trolley security system in a bid to halt the theft of thousands of euro worth of trolleys every year from their stores.

The Carttronics trolley system means they can be used in certain designated areas but an electrical signal automatically makes these trolleys brake when they pass a certain point.
