Nine-in-10 working Dubliners pay for care

NEARLY 33% of working parents in Connacht and the North pay nothing for their childcare costs, while in Dublin this figure drops to just 10%, the Irish Examiner poll shows.

In the rest of Leinster 16% pay zero for their childcare, whereas in Munster 23% avoid childcare fees.

In all of these cases, grandparents or close relatives are minding the children so the families don’t have to fund private childminders or crèches.
