Contracts signed for BreastCheck units

CONTRACTS were signed yesterday for the design of BreastCheck units in Cork and Galway as part of the long-awaited roll-out of the national screening programme.

A team of consultants were appointed to draw up plans for an €11 million southern BreastCheck facility at Cork’s South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital, and an €11m western BreastCheck unit with a neighbouring €3m symptomatic breast facility, both based at University College Hospital, Galway.

BreastCheck is already available in the north-east, east, midlands and south-east.
