A DISTRICT judge wanted to know yesterday how he was supposed to send a tree to jail.

This knotty conundrum branched out of a case where it was claimed that a car was illegally parked in an area reserved for coaches on Patrick’s Quay, Cork. A prosecution was brought against the registered owner of the car, namely The Joshua Tree.

Keeping with the horticultural analogies, Judge David Riordan described this case which came before him at Cork District Court as “another tulip”.
