Tax default payments net Revenue €104m

THE former director general of Bord Fáilte, Joe Malone, was yesterday named as a tax defaulter arising out of the Revenue Commissioners' investigation into Ansbacher account holders.

Racehorse trainer Michael Hourigan, who trained Beef or Salmon to win the Heineken Gold Cup at this year's Punchestown Festival meeting, also emerged as the holder of a bogus non-resident account.

Mr Hourigan, of Lisaleen, Patrickswell, Co Limerick, paid €32,735 in unpaid taxes, interest and penalties for not declaring income and holding a bogus non-resident account.
